How Booksure Works

How Booksure™ Works

Booksure™ allows you to process any booking and credit card payment, regardless of whether the request originates from your website, a telephone call, an email, or a walk-in.

Booksure™ offers an enquiry based system as well as a real time option.

Enquiry:
With Enquiry Based reservations, a guest would make an enquiry. The Establishment would send a quote and if the quote is satisfactory, the guest would pay immediately and securely online at the click of a button.

Walk in:
You can use Booksure to process the credit card of a walk-in guest and those wanting to settle their bill at your establishment. You and your guest will be required to fill in accommodation details online. The system then prints out a receipt, which requires a signature and a card imprint.

Real Time:
A real time booking option enables the guest to click a button which will automatically check availability for the given dates. Should the accommodation be available, the payment will be made immediately to confirm the reservation. There will be no enquiry / quote procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to activate my Booksure™ Account?
Your account will be activated within 1 working day after your application has been approved.

Do I need my own website?
No, this is not a requirement, however, it will increase your chances of bookings. As a Booksure™ member you qualify for a website absolutely free! We will help you set up your own website and host it for you free of charge.

Is there after sales service?
Yes. We have dedicated 24/7 Email Support for any queries or problems.
We can also be contacted on 0861 115 138 during office hours, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.

Can I have both the Booksure™ real-time and enquiry based system on my site?
Yes, you can give your guests both options. Real-time and enquiry based enquiries will be synced up automatically.

Who will train me?
From within your ‘My Booksure’ dashboard, you have access to demos of all the main functions. Most questions that you may have should be covered in our FAQ link from within your ‘My Booksure’ area. Alternatively, you can also contact us.

Does somebody come and install something on my computer?
There is no need to install anything on your computer as our system is web based.

How will I know if I have received a new reservation or enquiry?
You will receive email notification. Should you have enabled sms notification, you will also receive an sms.

Is there an audit trail?
There is a complete audit trail of all communication between you and your guest. All communication can be viewed from within your ‘My Booksure’ area.

Do you store credit card numbers?
No we do not. As per Booksure™’s compliance with The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), no credit card information is stored in our database.

How do I know if a payment has gone through successfully?
You will receive email notification for every successful payment. You will also receive sms notification if this functionality is enabled. From within your “My Booksure” area, you will have full access to all payments and transactions.

How long does it take Booksure™ to pay the money owed over to me?
Transaction times are generally 3-4 working days, depending on the banking payment cycle, who you bank with and when the initial payment is made. For Free Booksure™ members, the payment will be made 24 hours after guest check-in.

How do I know what amounts are still owing to me?
You can login to your ‘My Booksure’ area and check your payments and transactions section to see what is still outstanding.

Can I refund my guest?
If you are a Premium Booksure™ member, you can request a refund and we will refund your guest on your behalf. This functionality is not available to Free Booksure™ members.

What is a chargeback and how do I prevent it?
Chargeback means a credit card transaction is returned to the acquiring bank (Booksure's Merchant Bank) by the issuing bank (cardholder's bank) and which may be debited to the merchant's bank account.   When your guest arrives, check the validity of the credit card and the identity of your guest. 3D secure will help to reduce the chargeback risk.

What if I want to cancel?
In order to cancel your membership, send us an email stating the effective cancellation date and the reason for cancellation.

What happens if a guest forgets to pay before leaving?
If a guest forgets to settle the bill before leaving, an additional payment can be made on the original reservation, or in the case of a walk-in guest who had no prior reservation, an instant quote can be sent and the guest can pay when he/she gets home.

What is https?
https = hypertext transmission protocol secure - a secure internet environment.

Can I accept Diners Club or American Express using Booksure™?
Premium Booksure™ members can choose whether to accept or reject these cards. Free Booksure™ members cannot accept Diners Club or American Express Cards.

Do you charge commission?
No, we do not charge any commission whatsoever, the fees deducted from the transactions are charges which we are required to pay to the bank.

What is 3D Secure?
Booksure participates in the Verified by VISA / MasterCard SecureCode worldwide anti-fraud program known as 3D Secure. If a credit card is enrolled in this program, the Client Selected PIN number (CSP) is required to complete the payment.

Why do I need 3D Secure?
3D Secure offers the guest a sense of security knowing that they can make bookings securely online.   3D Secure offers the guesthouse chargeback protection in that “I didn’t do it” chargeback claims can be avoided.
