Do I need my own website?

No, this is not a requirement. As a Booksure™ member you qualify for a customizable accommodation website absolutely free! If you would like to take advantage of this offer, we will help you set up your website and host it for you free of charge. You manage your data yourself and eliminate costly webmaster fees.

How long does it take to activate my Account?

Your account will be activated within 1 working day after your application has been approved.

Does somebody come and install something on my computer?

Booksure is an online reservation management system and it is not necessary to install anything on your computer.

Can I use Booksure if there is no internet connection?

Booksure is a web based system and can only be used online.

Is there a limit to the number of rooms I manage?

There is no limit to the number of rooms that you manage. Booksure charges a flat rate for Studio members regardless of the number of rooms an establishment has. Cabin members pay no monthly fee.

What if I want to cancel my account?

Booksure does not lock you into any contract. Should you wish to terminate your account, send written notice and your account will be terminated at the end of the month.

Reservations and Enquiries

What is a real-time booking?

Real-time allows potential guests to view your exact rates and availability for a specified date range. The guest can make a payment to confirm the booking instantly. No communication or quotations take place prior to the booking as with an enquiry-based system.

Can I use both the Booksure™ real-time and enquiry based system?

Yes, you can give your guests both options. Real-time bookings and enquiries will be synced up automatically.

I am nervous of real-time bookings. Will I have any control over real-time bookings in the event of an over-booking?

You can decide how many rooms to make available for real-time bookings. You can also shut down rooms for certain dates or rate plans. To further prevent overbooking scenarios, you may choose to switch on a 24-hour authorization period for real-time bookings. By doing this, you will have 24 hours from the time of receiving the booking to either approve or decline the booking.

I am already a member. How do I activate real-time bookings?

You can contact Booksure support to arrange for real-time to be switched on for your establishment at no extra cost.

How will I know if I have received a new reservation or enquiry?

You will receive email notification. Should you have enabled SMS notification and have sufficient SMS credits, you will also receive an SMS.

Can I get bookings and enquiries through my website and social media accounts?

Yes, you have the option to use our customizable buttons and widgets on your website and Facebook page to streamline the booking process. Any bookings made through your website will be delivered straight to your Booksure Reservation Management System. The buttons and widgets come inclusive with your membership and no commission is charged on bookings received through your own site. There are a variety of buttons and widgets to choose from. Facebook widgets are only available to Studio membership packages.


How can my guest make a payment?

Booksure supports a number of 3rd party payment methods such as Paypal and Monsterpay. Should you have a merchant account with a supported payment provider, you will be able to configure your Booksure account to receive payments via the 3rd party payment provider. For South African establishments, Booksure also provides a secure payment gateway accepting payments via credit card.

How do I know if a payment has gone through successfully?

You will receive email notification for every successful payment. You will also receive SMS notification if this functionality is enabled. From within your “My Booksure” area, you will have full access to all payments and transactions.

Will I be able to issue an invoice to a guest through the system?

Although Booksure is not a bookkeeping system, you will have the ability to print an invoice from the system for any quote or reservation.

Do you charge commission?

A commission will only be payable if a booking is received from a Booksure affiliate website. The commission charged will vary and will depend on the agreement with the affiliate. A small credit card processing fee will be charged on successful payments processed via Booksure’s secure payment gateway. Please visit the pricing page for fees.

How long does it take Booksure™ to pay the money owed over to me?

Depending on the subscription package, the amount owing will either be paid over within 3-4 working days or 24 hours after guest check-in. Visit our packages page to see the different subscription packages available.

How do I know what amounts are still owing to me?

You can login to your ‘My Booksure’ area and check your payments and transactions section to see what is still outstanding.

Can I refund my guest?

The ability to refund a guest is available on certain subscription packages. Visit our packages page to see the different subscription packages available.

What is a chargeback and how do I prevent it?

Chargeback means a credit card transaction is returned to the acquiring bank (Booksure's Merchant Bank) by the issuing bank (cardholder's bank) and which may be debited to the merchant's bank account. When your guest arrives, check the validity of the credit card and the identity of your guest. 3D secure will help to reduce the chargeback risk.

What is 3D Secure?

Booksure participates in the Verified by VISA / MasterCard SecureCode worldwide anti-fraud program known as 3D Secure. If a credit card is enrolled in this program, the Client Selected PIN number (CSP) is required to complete the payment. 3D Secure offers the guest a sense of security knowing that they can make bookings securely online. 3D Secure offers the guesthouse chargeback protection in that “I didn’t do it” chargeback claims can be avoided.

Why do I need 3D Secure?

On 28 Feb 2013, the Payments Association of South Africa (PASA) mandated the implementation of 3D secure for all merchants processing ‘Card not Present’ transactions. As a South African merchant, Booksure is obligated to comply with this mandate.

Can I accept Diners Club or American Express using Booksure™?

Depending on your subscription package, this option is available. This functionality can be switched off from within your dashboard should you not wish to receive American Express and Diners Club payments.

3rd Party Payment Gateway

What is a 3rd party payment gateway?

Booksure supports a number of 3rd party payment gateways such as Paypal and Monsterpay. Should you have a merchant account with a supported payment provider, you will be able to configure your Booksure account to receive payments via the 3rd party provider, directly into your own merchant account. What this means is that any quote or reservation can be paid via the 3rd party gateway. The reservation in Booksure will immediately be updated to reflect the payment.

How much does it cost to configure a 3rd party payment gateway?

Configuration of a supported 3rd party gateway into Booksure is free and the setup is easy. Should a reservation be confirmed and paid for via a 3rd party payment gateway, a small fee will apply. Please visit the pricing page for fees. A fee may be charged by the payment provider, but this would depend on your agreement with them.

Channel Management

I receive bookings from other online Booking systems, how do I keep these in sync?

You may opt into our Channel Management module which will allow you to sync up your calendar with selected Booking systems. By doing this, you maintain your rates and restrictions through Booksure and we take care of keeping the other booking systems in sync. All availability of rooms will be kept in sync, thereby reducing your risk of overbooking.

Affiliate Program

What is the affiliate program and is it compulsory?

You may increase your online exposure by advertising on any of the Booksure affiliate sites. This is not compulsory and you can select which sites on which to advertise. Different affiliate programs are available depending on your establishment’s location and other filters as applied by the affiliate. South African establishments will automatically be listed on Booksure’s listing sites, and
