About

The Bulungula Lodge is the realisation of a dream dreamt during years of travels through the most remote parts of Africa.

The lodge is situated in the most beautiful location of any lodge in South Africa. Have a look at the photo’s. Beach, forest, lagoon, rolling hills, dolphins, whales, you name it. The sky is so clear, we guarantee shooting stars – look at the night’s sky for half an hour without seeing one, and you stay that night free.

We offer accommodation in our traditional Xhosa rondavels, as private rooms or backpacker dormitories, in our secluded forest cabins or on our campground. No matter which one you choose, they all have one thing in common: you will fall asleep and wake up to the beautiful sound of the waves.

Our double or triple rooms are cozy traditional rondavels, to give you the full Xhosa experience. If you leave the door open, you will see the villagers passing by, and occasionally a friendly donkey or goat may put their head inside to say “hi”. They come with sea or forest view and a beautiful sound of the waves to put you to sleep at night. Sleeps up to 5 people in double or single beds

Our cabins in the forest are Bulungulas best kept secret! If you are looking for a secluded place with sea views and a “magical forest” feel, book one of our simple but cozy huts. You may spot dolphins and whales from your bed! Sleeps 1 or 2 people in single or double beds

You can choose between our female or mixed dorm. They are located in a quiet spot in the back of our garden, and come with forest views. You will fall asleep to the sound of the forest and the ocean. Sleeps 4 or 8 people in single beds (no bunks!)
