Petra and Kurt welcome you to their mountain slope home overlooking the fishing port of Hout Bay. The only noise you’ll encounter here is chirping birds and the occasional splash from the Koi ponds. Restored in the style of the Provence, Cap Serein is about peace, quiet and exceptional cuisine.

Your hosts are true experts in hospitality. They’ve both run restaurants in their time, and Kurt is a certified Master Chef. So expect superb breakfasts in the sunroom with cooked fare and a selection of home-baked pastries getting your day off to a hearty start. Fine picnic baskets are also available to guests wanting to take their food on the road.

If you’ve come to Cape Town to relax, Cap Serein will suit you right down to the ground. The shady garden is full of nooks and crannies, with plenty of corners where you can lose yourself in a good book and have only the koi fish and the owls for company. Hidden pathways meander between the bluegum, lemon and olive trees – in fact, it’s the sort of place where you might expect to meet a fairy or two!

There’s also a stunning and sunny pool terrace with a jacuzzi, where you can sunbathe and cool off while enjoying splendid views of the ocean, Hout Bay Harbour, the renowned Chapman’s Peak Drive and even the distant Kommetjie Lighthouse.

The rooms at Cap Serein are all excellent hideaways, nestled within our property. Each is decorated in its own unique style, and is clean, updated and comfortable. Whether you are looking for a room, suite or cottage, we have a home away from home for you.

Rooms

Cottage Marseille | Wheelchair Friendly

This detached cottage, styled with a contemporary feel and modern décor,  offers the utmost privacy and is ideal for longer stays. The bedroom has a king-size bed with an ensuite bathroom featuring a double shower, underfloor heating and heated towel rails. Marseille also provides a living room with a fireplace, DSTV satellite channels and a dining and study area. The newly updated kitchen is equipped with a stove, oven, fridge, microwave and kitchen utensils. Both the indoor and outdoor areas are spacious enough to entertain groups, particularly its private terrace and garden. The cottage is wheelchair friendly, has WIFI and is lovely for an adult retreat or a small family (by arrangement)

Double Room Gordes

This room is located on the ground floor of our Guest House with its own private entrance. It offers an extra length queen-size bed, underfloor heating and a spacious shower. The room is also equipped with a minibar, hot beverage facility, DSTV satellite television & WiFi. Sit back and relax on its private furnished terrace! By arrangement, the room can also be offered as a room that sleeps three people (one being a child up to the age of eight).

Family Room

The family room is located on the second floor of our Guest House.  It offers a queen-size bed, spacious shower, underfloor heating, hot beverage facility, WiFi and a spectacular view of the garden and Hout Bay valley. By arrangement, this room can sleep up to three people.

Garden Suite Arles

Garden Room Arles is located in a separate building on our property and offers a private entrance to the room. The spacious room offers two beds as a double or twin option. There’s underfloor heating in the bathroom, which also has a spacious walk-in shower. The room has a fireplace, minibar and hot beverage facilities. There’s DSTV satellite television, WiFi. and a furnished, covered terrace for all-weather relaxation. On request this room can be modified to accommodate up to three adults for an additional charge.

Garden Suite Avignon | Wheelchair Friendly

Garden Suite Avignon is located in a separate building on our property and offers a private entrance to the room. Two three-quarter beds offer a double or twin option. There’s underfloor heating in the bathroom, which has a spacious walk-in shower. The room has a fireplace, minibar and hot beverage facilities. There’s DSTV satellite television, WIFI and a furnished, covered terrace for all-weather relaxation. The room is wheelchair friendly.
